About

Founded on the belief that writing well is a discipline.

Royston Literature began in 2018 as a partnership between a former federal grants officer and a staff writer at a research lab. Today we are six writers, two editors, and a research lead working from studios in Portland and Lisbon.

Our work spans three disciplines that look different but share a single craft: grant proposals that move money, technical documentation that ships product, and creative writing that lasts on the shelf. Across all three, we believe the same things — that the sentence is the unit of trust, that revision is where the work actually happens, and that no draft should leave the studio that we wouldn't sign our name to.

We deliberately keep our roster small. Each writer leads no more than three engagements at a time, which is why our calendar moves and our prices reflect the seniority of the person on the page. If we say yes to your project, it means we have the time to do it well.
